Dementia Caregivers Support Group
UCARE Begins Weekly Dementia Caregiver Support Group on April 2.
Caregiving for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, or other dementias, can be an isolating experience, but you’re not alone in this challenge. When you’re overwhelmed and exhausted by caregiving responsibilities, it can feel like you’re the only person dealing with so much. That’s why the Dementia Caregiver Support Group can be so helpful. It’s filled with people who are in similar situations, who truly understand what you’re going through and will share emotional support, empathy, and encouragement.
The Dementia Caregiver Support Group will begin on Sundays, April 2, at 1:30-3:00 pm in Room 102 (Prayer Place) of the Loma Linda University Church. There is no cost and registration at LLUC.org is optional. Just come. . .
For more information, please contact Anita Benning, support group leader, through the Church Office at (909) 558-4570.
The group will be facilitated by Anita Benning who was caregiver for her husband from 2016-2021, after he contracted Alzheimer's. She has been facilitating a support group for caregivers since 2019.
Anita has worked as a hospital and school nurse, a teacher and vice principal at Orangewood Adventist Academy, and was the Director of Health and Safety for all schools in the Southeastern California Conference from 2003 to 2012.
Anita feels deeply for those who are providing care for loved ones with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia because she has been in that place. She brings much knowledge and experience to her role of facilitating this group.
