Camp Meeting 2024

Growing Disciples! That’s what we—the Loma Linda University Church family—say we are. But what does that mean?

That statement of purpose is made up of two words. First is the word growing. It’s an adjective. As such, its function is to modify or describe the noun in the statement, disciples. Simply put, then, it describes what is true about the disciples that we claim to be: we are growing. In other words, we are (per thesaurus.com): “developing, flourishing, thriving.”

ARE WE?

The second word is disciples. Another word for “disciple”—and likely a more accurate word—is the word apprentice. Synonyms for the word apprentice include: learner, novice, pupil, follower, student.

ARE WE?

Put those together and what we are saying is that we—the Loma Linda University Church family—are developing, flourishing, thriving apprentices of Jesus.

ARE WE?

Join us as we consider whether that is true and how that happens.
